As Dr Dre prepares to release Compton, his first album in over 16 years, Apple’s very own Zane Lowe has revealed that Apple Music subscribers will be able to listen to the full album, uncensored, this Thursday – yes, that’s tomorrow – on Beats 1.

The stream will kick off on Apple Music at 6pm PDT, and will mark the first time Apple has allowed music to be played uncensored on its new platform.

Speaking on his regular Beats 1 radio show, The Pharmacy, Dre revealed that he began writing Compton after seeing the new N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Neither soundtrack nor original album, Comptom has been described by Dre as an ‘inspired-by’ collaborative piece.

“I was leaving the set, going to the studio, and I felt myself just being so inspired by the movie that I started recording an album,” explained Dre.

“I kept it under wraps, and now the album is finished. It’s an ‘inspired-by’ album, it’s inspired by Straight Outta Compton.

An iTunes exclusive, Compton will hit digital shelves this Friday. Check out the artwork below.
